Rockport Village Home

This home, positioned in the heart of Rockport Village, was a months long renovation that left very little of the home unattended to. The home, left vacant for several years, was in dire need of a vision with a plan to execute. We started working closely with the new owner on the design features they envisioned for the home while they were still working out the deal for the purchase.

Extensive structural upgrades were made, which included supporting foundation and frame rework, as well as mechanical updates for plumbing, electrical and heating. Many new design ideas of the new owner were integrated while at the same time balancing their desire of maintaining some of the original authenticity of the homes period features.

There was much attention given to areas around the home’s exterior that had succumbed to moisture rot over time due to neglect. Interior rooms and doorways were opened and widened throughout, with the use of structural beams. A mini-split ductless system was installed for the benefit of efficiently warming the interior spaces in the cold months and cooling and drying them in the warm humid months. We utilized a local window manufacturer to produce the desired energy efficient replacement windows and doors that resembled the design features of the original windows. Dense-pack, loose fill and 2-part spray foam insulation was added throughout areas of the home. Period moldings were generated in our shop for all the needed trim throughout the areas of the interior and exterior of the home. Engineered oak flooring was installed throughout the first floor and the original flooring on the second floor was salvaged and refinished. A third floor bonus space received updates which included much needed additional lighting, a remodeled half bath and new windows and insulation.

The opportunity to give this old home such needed attention made it a very rewarding and fun project!
