Cushing Home
Renovation
Cushing, Maine
Nestled on the shores in Cushing, Maine, this home, built in the early 1970s, served as a cherished holiday retreat for its previous owners.
The renovation, which took over a year to complete, transformed this summer getaway into a comfortable year-round residence. The updates and changes throughout the property introduced a fresh, modern feel. An entry connector was added between the main house and the original “bunkhouse”, turning the first floor of the bunkhouse into a new master wing. Many walls were relocated, insulation was added, and drywall was applied throughout. Before work began, much of the property had open framing exposed to the interior.
James Hardie panel siding was chosen to replace the old board-and-batten exterior, giving the home a clean, contemporary look. All new mechanical systems were installed, including a mini split heat pump system for efficient heating and cooling. A custom kitchen was fitted, and a corner fireplace was added just off the kitchen space, creating a cozy focal point for gatherings.
This was a truly enjoyable project to watch take shape and transform, reflecting our commitment to quality, thoughtful design, and the satisfaction of seeing a vision come to life.
