“I was asked to join Trygve Bratz’s Mountain Arrow project after it was well underway and was surprised to find that the lead contractors were two men who seemed only old enough to be apprentices. The project was extremely complex, involving moving a large summer house and reconfiguring its wings and interior spaces. This would require flexibility, imagination, skill and persistence, and I was more than a little dubious about the prospect.

The result has been superb, and working with the Burgesses has been a real pleasure for me. Much of the design had to be done on the spot, solving detail problems on site and responding to changing visions for the spaces. At all times the Burgesses were cooperative, understanding, and, it proved, extremely capable of interpreting and executing complex construction problems with accuracy and efficiency and with a cheerful enthusiasm for the work that was refreshing.

I have not been involved in the administration of the project, since my role has been purely advisory to the owner, but from what I saw, I would have no hesitation in recommending them for future projects.”
